| Background: | PGDH3/3-PGDH is a stromal phosphoglycerate dehydrogenase that uses NAD(H) to convert 3-PGA, directly taken from the Calvin-Benson-Bassham cycle, into 3-hosphohydroxypyruvate. By draining electrons from NADPH into a separate NADH pool, this chloroplast enzyme plays a crucial role in balancing the cellular redox poise and is involved in L-serine biosynthesis. |
